Canadian writer and novelist Melissa Kokkinis will visit Kuwait next week as part of a Middle Eastern mission to write a book on Muslim women.Kokkinis, who converted to Islam in 2002, told Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) she aims to show the western society the real picture of Muslim women and their positive roles through her book that would be published in Toronto, Canada, next year.She wants to stress that Muslim women are successful, treated respectfully by men, and are assigned to high posts in both the private and governmental sectors, not imprisoned in their homes, she said.Kokkinis stressed she was happy of her upcoming visit to Kuwait, hoping to meet with Kuwaiti Education Minister and Higher Education Minister Nouriya Al-Subeeh, Health Minister Dr. Maasouma Al-Mubarak and other eminent women.She said she used to be a Christian, and after conducting thorough studies about Christianity, she decided to read about other religions. Soon after that, she converted to Islam and wrote her book "The Road from Jerusalem to Mecca (Makkah)." Kokkinis, who is currently in Damascus, will visit Kuwait, Iran, Jordan, Oman and Qatar.The novelist, born in 1978 in Montreal
